Respite & Short Stay Facility
Sometimes care cannot pause, but you need to. Our residence offers ten rooms for short stays, from a single night to several weeks, with 24 hour nursing and geriatrician oversight throughout.
The most private option, chosen when a parent values their own space above all else, or when a spouse wishes to stay alongside them.
Our most requested option. A private bedroom with a private bathroom, and easy access to the shared living and dining areas where the day happens.
A shared four-bed room under continuous nursing observation. For many older adults who become anxious alone, being within sight of others is genuinely calming.
Whichever room your parent stays in, the clinical care is identical

What Sets Us Apart
Every detail at Aegis Health is designed with our residents' dignity, comfort, and wellbeing in mind.
All care decisions at Aegis are led by Dr. Sithira Senevirathne — Sri Lanka's first board-certified Consultant Geriatrician — not a GP or nurse practitioner.
Our Aegis-EMR platform gives families live access to health records, vital signs, medication logs and daily notes — from anywhere in the world.
Clinics, day care, home care, preventive programmes and specialist referrals all under one medical team. Your loved one's care continuity is never disrupted.
Every enrolled senior receives a validated CGA — a structured medical, cognitive, and functional review that forms the foundation of their entire care plan.
Before we built anything
In 2026, before construction began, we surveyed guardians and adult children caring for a parent in Sri Lanka and from abroad. What follows is in their words, not ours.
when I see the sudden passing of friends' parents, or when suddenly I see a parent struggle to do something they were good at
Both parents falling seriously ill together, neglecting their own health to care for the other.
Mother is showing signs of Alzheimer's and refuses medical care or to be seen by a doctor. Refuses to eat or take any type of medication. Father is 85 and only care giver.
When she decided she could not manage at home, even with help of her trusted maid.
A decrease in mobility, I believe, leads to a very rapid decline both in physical and mental well being. The hardest thing for them to accept is a mind set to change.
Sudden drop in blood sugar, which led to seizures.
A fall from which she suffered.
Source: Aegis Health Guardians & Adult Children survey, 2026. 86 respondents aged 30 to 50, caring for a parent in Sri Lanka or from overseas. Quotations are verbatim free-text answers, some shortened. Percentages come from multiple-choice questions. Published anonymously with consent. We will publish client testimonials once we have clients, and not before.
What we changed because of it
54% told us no single doctor was looking at the whole person, only ever one problem at a time. Every enrolled elder gets one named geriatrician and a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment that the whole care plan is built from.
72% wanted proactive updates rather than a phone call once something had already gone wrong. Aegis-EMR pushes vitals, medication and daily notes to you, every day.
62% said what they most wanted was a single point of contact when they are worried. Every family is assigned a named care coordinator in Colombo.
38% named a parent refusing care or downplaying symptoms as their hardest problem, second only to fragmented care. Our first visit is built around the elder, not the paperwork, and we will work with a family for weeks to get a reluctant parent through the door.
In the news
Dr. Sithira Senevirathne writes regularly on geriatric medicine in Sri Lanka. A few recent pieces.
Fasting sugar, cholesterol, a full blood count and an ECG. The standard Sri Lankan check up misses mobility, memory, polypharmacy and continence, which is where quality of life is actually decided.
A hip fracture is a life changing event for an older adult. Timely surgery, and getting the medical problems right before and after it, decides how well they recover.
Delirium is a reversible confusional state that follows illness and new medications. Poor awareness of it leads to unnecessary investigation and treatment.
